Spring
Archery (2 separate sessions being offered)
Our New Bulldog Archery program will offer 90 mins of fun shooting a bow and arrow. Our program will have a new skill every session that will teach the steps of shooting. We will also have a fun activity and pop some balloons. There will be full safety instruction at the beginning of class along with focus on technique. No experience needed just a fun positive attitude. You will gain some upper body strength and improve focus. Limit to the first 10 who sign up. There will be 2 sessions available. Come be the next Hawkeye!!

Badminton
Fast paced, and action packed our athletes will take their game to a new level. Players will refine their skills through practice and play; preparing them for our in-house tournament play and matches against other East Bay middle schools. Class size is limited to the first 24 student sign-ups.

Fencing
Foil fencing is back! This popular offering introduces first-timers to the rudiments of the sport and the appropriate use of the equipment which will enable our coed athletes to enjoy this medieval sport in a fun and safe manner. After learning the basics, participants will have an opportunity to test their skills in a controlled bout against fellow classmates. Class size is limited to the first 24 sign ups, and all equipment and gear are provided.

Flexibility & Agility
This class will incorporate a variety of exercises and movements that challenge the body's ability to move and adapt to different situations. This could include a mix of cardio, strength training, and functional movement exercises such as plyometrics and bodyweight exercises. The class will also incorporate dynamic stretching and mobility exercises to help prepare the body for the workout and aid in recovery afterwards.

Rock Climbing
The Climbing Club is here! This exciting and challenging sport will help students build strength, improve flexibility and coordination, and problem-solve while making their way along our fabulous traverse rock wall in the Isola Gym. Open to all levels - no experience needed! Students will learn the basics of rock climbing and bouldering, and will have the chance to progress at their own pace. The session will end with a trip to a local rock climbing gym where they can try out their new skills.

Strength & Conditioning
This class is designed to increase physical strength through weight-bearing and resistance exercise. All major muscle groups are worked from head to toe. We finish with core training and stretching for a complete workout.

Track and Field
Track and Field is one of the most popular sports at OIS! Coaches offer instruction and practice in the following events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, Mile, 4x100 and 4x400 Relays, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump and Shot Put. Students will compete against other middle schools in both dual and invitational meets (volunteer parents provide carpool transportation). Open to all grades and skills!

Ultimate Frisbee
Ultimate is an exciting, non-contact co-ed team sport, played by thousands the world over. It mixes the best features of sports such as Soccer, Basketball, and Football. It’s a fast-paced game that teaches teamwork, as well as conflict resolution. They will compete against other Bay Area Middle Schools. Open to all skill levels and all grade levels, come join the team and have some fun in the sun.

Wrestling
Wrestling is the world’s oldest and most natural sport, and a lot of fun too! It’s an all-inclusive sport—a sport for everyone—boys & girls, tall & short, big & small. It’s one of the only sports that’s been in every Olympics—since 708BC—and in 330BC women began wrestling. In 2004 women’s wrestling was made an Olympic sport. OIS is offering a course for middle school students to master the basics of wrestling while building strength, agility, balance, and coordination. Practices will focus on technique, attacks, defense, and counter-offense through drills, games, and live wrestling. No experience necessary. Try out a new sport and develop confidence, mental toughness, self-esteem, and learn some self-defense.

YOGA- 6TH/7TH/8TH
Yoga is a great way for students to increase their focus, concentration, self-esteem, and stamina. All added benefits to decreasing stress, tension, and tight muscles. Yoga is good for any athlete who needs extra stretching, kids who carry oversized, overweight backpacks, or anyone who wants to learn. healthy way to tone muscles and align bones. Mats, foam blocks and straps provided. No previous yoga instruction necessary. Come and join the fun.
