Physical Education
The goal of the Physical Education Department at OIS is to offer our students a diversified program, which is in compliance with the Physical Education Framework as adopted by the California State Board of Education.

Physical Education Eight (PE 8)
The PE 6 course is aligned with the California Physical Education Model Standards and emphasizes the development of proficient movement and motor skills while fostering an appreciation for physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. In sixth grade, the focus is on applying these skills through a variety of activities, including games such as soccer, softball, and track, as well as line dancing, tumbling, and fitness exercises.

The PE 7 course aligns with the California Physical Education Model Standards and emphasizes the development of motor skills alongside an understanding of biomechanics, motor development, motor learning, and game strategies. In seventh grade, the focus is on individual and group activities, offering a variety of experiences such as tumbling, football, soccer, bowling, frisbee, and more.

Physical Education Eight (PE 8)
The PE 8 course aligns with the California Physical Education Model Standards. The emphasis at grade 8 is on team activities, gymnastics/tumbling, and fitness. The critical elements for each motor skill as well as concepts and principles related to biomechanics, motor development, motor learning, and game tactics are taught. Cognitive knowledge that supports each area will also be taught.
