6th Grade Science

Sixth grade science is a year-long, inquiry-oriented integrated science course based on the California Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS.) It is rooted in student observation of phenomena blending the Science and Engineering Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Disciplinary Core Ideas. 

Students will investigate the overarching theme of interactions between and among organisms and earth's systems, and the effects of those interactions. Included in this curriculum are four storylines based on the following instructional segments found in the framework: Systems and Subsystems in Earth and Life Sciences, Earth System Interactions Cause Weather, Causes and Effects of Regional Climates, and Effects of Global Warming on Living Systems.
