Others First

Mission Statement

To remind our students that a complete education includes a sense of community.

What is Others First?

Others First encourages altruism, kindness, and humanitarianism by connecting students to other students, adults, and non-profit organizations through community service activities. The program aims to provide students with leadership opportunities and to promote collaboration and teamwork. To promote these aims, the Others First program recognizes three kinds of community service activities: monthly student lunch meetings, participation in other service-oriented OIS lunch clubs, and community outreach.

Our monthly Friday lunch meetings are designed by a group of student leaders with parent support and offer an opportunity for every OIS student to engage in community service projects right on campus. Participation in other service-oriented OIS lunch clubs, such as the Green Club, the Sustainability Club, and the Garden Club, are also recognized by Others First through credit for service hours. Additionally, Others First credits students with service hours for "independent activities" of their own choosing.

Additional Information
